Six Music / dance relationship

 SIX MUSIC & DANCE RELATIONSHIP

TASK ONE

TASK TWO

[0:33 - 0:48]

In this clip, on the lyric "SHH" both times that this lyric comes up we bring our hand in front of our mouth and then preform the move that you can see in this clip. On both occasions the lyric "SHH" happens on the second beat of the bar.
The time value for the movement that we preform on the word "SHH" is worth two beats / one second.

TASK THREE

Time signature:

In the dance break at bar 110 the time signature is 4 | 4, however at bar 118 the time signature is also 4 | 4

At the start of the dance break. Bars 110 to 117 are at the same tempo and from 118 onwards the tempo then slows down slightly. This makes the dance break feel more impactful on the audience when they watch the piece.

TASK FOUR

In this video, you can see that at this part of the dance break when the tempo is at a constant faster tempo we do quicker moves to reflect the fast pace of the beats that are being played. Along with this, between bars 110 to 117 there are some drum beats that happen and when this happens we pretend to play the drums to reflect them. The after bar 118 when the tempo slows down we then slow are movements down and make them softer to reflect the tempo of the music at that given time in the song.

From bar 110 till 117 our movements are very rapid paced and precise, compared to from bars 118 till 130 where the movements become a lot slower paced and more gentle and soft.

DIRECT CORRELATION BETWEEN LYRICS AND MOVEMENTS

Direct correlation between lyrics and movements can be helpful for performers as it can make it easier for them to remember parts of dances as the movements and the words correlate and mean the same thing. Along with this, it can also create an emotional bond for the performer, which allows it to be easier for the performer to connect with the piece they are performing and in turn express the emotions of the piece fully. Overall, direct correlation between the lyrics and movement is a key feature of the genre of jazz and musical theatre.
